Lunar Orientation System (SOL)
2026 –
ongoing research project

Sistema d'orientació lunar (Lunar Orientation System) is an artistic research project that formulates a lunar knowledge —opaque, minoritized, or typical of witchcraft and popular knowledge— as an ecofeminist alternative to the hegemonic sciences of navigation, prediction, cartography and control. Starting from a subversion of European navigation devices —technologies that have often been instrumentalized for domination and control— and attention to their link with the colonial and patriarchal imaginary, the project uses the metaphor of a lunar orientation to put them into dialogue with popular knowledge and technologies, both ritual and empirical. The aim is to generate, on the one hand, a body of work consisting of small-format artefacts and artist's books —paper sundials, imprecise planispheres, compass roses with poetic interventions, small proverbs or herbariums— and a sound piece based on the implementation of some of these lunar technologies.
